What Are They Thinking?
I was flipping through today’s issue of USA Today and came across the article, “Colleges offer choice of major—and headstone,” by Craig Wilson, and was perplexed. Apparently there are now some colleges out there that are making cemeteries part of their campuses, including Notre Dame, Duke and the University of Virginia.
The catch is that the students get to pay the school twice, once for attending classes, and the second for a cemetery plot.
I know it is a free country, but a cemetery on a college campus? This just doesn’t seem right and then they charge an arm and a leg for a “so called” prestigious plot. If this is the new movement, maybe we need to expand our products from granite countertops to include granite headstones and market them to college campuses.
.…Well maybe not!
Thanks for reading!

WOW…I would have to say that the idea of that disturbs me a bit. Trying to sell college students a headstone is a little weird!! I think you would be best in staying away granite headstones & hopefully this is a passing fad that will pass QUICKLY!!
I have to say I am very impressed with your blog. You do a great job bringing in a wide variety of topics & ALWAYS find a way to bring a pull into business!! I really enjoy reading!!

I believe they were actually talking about alumni buying a cemetary plot at the college they attended, of course down the road. It still too me is strange. I’m all for cremating anyway instead of taking up land.
Thanks for your positive comments. I appreciate it.
