Unplug And Unwind!
I recently came across, “Start a Media Diet,” in the June 2007 issue of Body + Soul magazine, that caught my eye and had some good points.
In today’s world, we are constantly being bombarded with the media. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and sometimes hard to get a break from all of the computers, cell phones, TV, e-mails, etc. coming at you all of the time.
In the article it stated that, “According to the U.S. Census Bureau, we’ll spend a total of 65 days this year watching TV, 41 days listening to the radio, a week reading a daily newspaper, another listening to music, and just over a week surfing the web—for a grand total of nearly five months. That’s a lot of media!
I just got back from a relaxing weekend at the cabin last evening, where there was no TV, no e-mail, no computer and I just so happened to forget my cell phone charger. My children had their own plans, so there was also no kids. (A nice break after the previous weekend up there with way too many kids.) I was able to relax, go on a few walks, enjoy the lake, get in some water skiing and do a little reading.
Maybe next weekend I purposefully forget my cell phone charger.
Thanks for reading!

Good for you. Sounds like the lack of a cell phone charger means the presence of a body & soul charger!
I try myself, especially in the summer, to disconnect from the phones, email, internet and everything else … but then again here I am reading your blog at 7pm on a summer night. I need to try harder.

Yeah! The lake is an excellent place to re-charge the soul!
