Recipe: Christmas Chocolate Oreo Truffles
It’s that time of year again when people put on their baking aprons and prepare all of those holiday cookies. I know I always enjoy it. I spent yesterday baking with my best friend. We like to get together and prepare our favorite holiday cookies and share some of our family traditions. I thought I’d share this delicious Chocolate Oreo Truffle recipe I discovered the other year, that has become a favorite of mine. We made them festive for the holidays by adding crushed candy canes on top.
Christmas Chocolate Oreo Truffles
1 package (1 lb. 2 oz.) oreo cookies, finely crushed
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
2 pkg. (8 squares each) BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted
5 crushed candy canes
MIX 3 cups of the cookie crumbs and the cream cheese until well blended. Shape into 42 (1-inch) balls.
DIP balls in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet. (Any leftover melted chocolate can be stored in tightly covered container at room temperature and saved for another use.) Sprinkle with remaining cookie crumbs, or top with crushed candy canes at Christmas time to make festive.
REFRIGERATE 1 hour or until firm. Store any leftover truffles in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
I also came across an organizing tip that I wanted to share. In “The Joy of Your Own Cooking, an article published in the December 2007 issue of Prevention magazine, they listed a website, Scanmyrecipes.com, that will transcribe your best recipes onto a CD (.39 cents a recipe), or put up to 500 of them into a recipe book (48 pages, for $12). What a great way to pass along your favorites!
