Get A Rythym When You Get The Blues

“The Blues” …everyone gets them now and then. As peoples lives have become more fast paced and stressful, the blues have become more common place. While it may be normal for some people to feel down from time to time, it is important to find ways to boost your mood quickly, so you feel more like yourself fast.

I recently came across, “Sonic Health Boost,” an article in the January 2008 issue of Prevention magazine that mentioned that new research shows that music is a powerful way to boost your mood, ease pain, and helps you feel energized. “Good melody makes good medicine—dulling pain, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, boosting mood and curing insomnia.” “Listening to music can ease depression symptoms by up to 25%, according to Cleveland Clinic senior nurse researcher Sandra Siedlecki, PHD,” as mentioned in the article. Music also seems to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

It appears that singer, song writer Johnny Cash, had it right when he sang, “Get a rythym when you get the blues.” So the next time you are feeling a little down in the dumps, don’t be afraid to crank up some of your favorite songs and…

“Get a rythym!”

Thanks for reading!

Barb, you are right. Just imagine listening to Beethoven in a night, filled with mild light, in a room of 15′x15′ floored by Lavender Blue Granite Slabs and the music system in Paradiso Classico Table Top.WOW!!!

Barb, I’m currently in school majoring in music therapy. Your comments are amazing. We are looking for a business owner to discuss the topic, “music in the workplace”. By reading your blog, I believe you have a great understanding of the arts. Could we have you as special guest to speak at our next speaker opportunity in February at Hamline U?

    Sincerely, Kate

Thank you for your comments. I am flattered that you would ask me to speak, but I am definitely not an expert on music. I was just commenting on an article that I read, and a song that I like very much, by Johnny Cash. If your offer was to speak about granite countertops, or natural stone, I would probably take you up on it.

Thanks again and best of luck to you!

Barb, that’s exactly it. We would like a business owner to discuss “music in the industry”. Would you still be interested?

I mentioned I’d be interested in speaking about granite countertops, not music. Thanks, but no thanks.

I don’t know why you have to get upset about it. We thought it would be nice to have an expert from your field and discuss music in more detail. I will contact someone else in the field.

Hey YZ- Good to hear from you. I wouldn’t have much to say, other than listen to some good music when you’re thinking of purchasing granite. It might help put you in the mood to buy!

    Thanks!
    Barb

    P.S. Enjoy that Mexican sun!
