Should I be concerned that if I put in granite in my models that it will grow molds and stain.

Zodiaq is an engineered stone made by DuPont comprised of 93% quartz crystal and 7% acrylic resin, colors and binders. The product is manufactured in DuPont's Granirex plant in Thetford Mines, Canada. It is used most often as kitchen countertops but also as walls. Its primary advantage is that unlike natural stone products (marble, granite, limestone, wood), Zodiaq is non-porous and does not require a sealant that must be periodically reapplied. Porous products, like granite, are prone to growing molds and staining. The color of Zodiaq is consistent throughout. DuPont offers a 10 year warranty on the installation, (as well as the product itself) if the job is done by a certified fabricator/installer.

Dave:

My blog was about the survey conducted by the MIA and asking customers to stop by our showroom to check out our colors. You are correct that we do sell both natural stone and engineered stone by DuPont Zodiaq. Our customers have the opportunity to look at samples of both. We do not carry any engineered stone from the companies who spread the mis-leading information.

Thanks!

According to your website you offer both granite and engineered stones. If granite is the best then why offer competing products that spread lies in the industry? I'm very confused by your web blog.

Dave:
As I said, they are backing the good name of the stone industry, and trying to over come the false and mis-leading information that has been spread. While there is place in the market for engineered stone, it is not necessary to spread lies about a competing product in order to sell it.

Thanks!

Exactly who do you think the MIA is going to back? the stone industry or engineered?

David:

The MIA, states up front who the survey was conducted by and also gives the stats. I don't see anything wrong with posting the information from the survey. Over the last several months, the stone industry has been battling mis-leading claims about the safety of granite made by an independent group, which were in fact, funded by two companies that manufacture engineered stone. I give credit to the MIA for backing the stone industry, and doing what they can to promote the good name of genuine stone. I definitely concur that, "Granite countertops are among the most safe, beautiful, and durable kitchen counter surfaces on the market today."

I appreciate your comments and thank you for reading my blog.

Thanks!

The survey of 2,021 U.S. adults aged 18+ was conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of the Marble Institute of America.

Really, you don’t feel this survey is 1 sided?
