Happy Thoughts!

Lately there seems to be a very dark gloom in the air, I mean think about it…the economy, the war, unemployment rates, and now the Swine flu (H1 N1 flu). Everyday it seems to get “worse and worse.” Mulling over all of these issues each day can really take a toll on someones mood!

I recently read an article in the April 2009 issue of Selling Power magazine, entitled “The Happiness Factor”. In the article, Kim Wright Wiley explains that through her research, “happiness isn’t something we’re born with; happiness is something we choose,” and that really got me thinking. If we let external factors affect our mood, we might very well be “depressed” all of the time. Who wants that? Life is much more fun to live when you smile and laugh.

Wiley outlined some basic tools to use in order to develop your tenacious spirit and know your happiness triggers including:

  1. The ability to bounce back from adversity. Failure is part of the human experience, learn and grow from your failures.
  2. The ability to choose your friends carefully. Surround yourself with positive, happy people who will encourage and not discourage.
  3. Smile at everyone you meet. Smiling has an impact on you as well as those around you.
  4. Choose not to complain. Are you breathing, do you have a roof over your head, food to eat? Then you don’t have anything to complain about. Regardless of your situation take a few minutes to compile a list of all of the things you are grateful for and refer to those when you feel like complaining.
  5. Verbally express appreciation. Express gratitude often and regularly, you are boosting those around you, as well as yourself!

Obviously there are hundreds of things that can be incorporated into your daily life to encourage happiness. It is all about the Laws of Attraction.

Incorporate these HAPPY THOUGHTS into your day today and see what happens:

  1. You always have a choice.
  2. If you choose to complain, you will feel worse.
  3. If you choose a positive outlook, your world will be full of possibility.

“Always” and “never” are two words you should always remember never to use. – Wendel Johnson
