Treat Yourself—Add A Granite Vanity To Your Bath
While the current economy has made some consumers weary about remodeling their kitchens right now, many consumers are still pursuing smaller projects. According to “Bath Inspirations, an article found in the May 2009 issue of Kitchen & Design News, “In recent months, a number of kitchen and bath designers have reported a dramatic increase in bathroom projects, while kitchen projects are fewer and further between.”
At PGC, while we are still fabricating full granite kitchens, we have noticed a surge in smaller projects, including granite vanities. People still want to invest in their homes and want to enjoy the good feeling that making improvements brings.Whether you are ready to move forward with your kitchen remodel, or opt for a smaller project right now, such as a granite vanity, we’re here to help. Please stop by our showroom. We’ve got plenty of colors to choose from.

Sign Of The Times
Well it is finally here…
The long awaited PGC sign, was installed this week! Wow—what a process. Who would have thought there were so many rules and regulations in regards to signs. No—it is not digital, (guess the City of St. Michael isn’t with the times on that one), but nontheless, it is a sign, and is lighted. The sign faces Hwy. 101, and should be seen by those existing off I94, from Rogers, Maple Grove, Albertville, Monticello, etc., or Hwy. 10, coming through, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Ramsey, etc.
Make sure you look for our monthly specials.

Granite Countertops: Hard To Describe, Easy To Love!
With hundreds of colors available today for granite countertops, the selection process may feel a bit over whelming for some customers. At PGC, when customers visit our showroom to make their color selections, we do our best to help narrow the search by asking a variety of questions.
One question we ask is, “Do you have a color in mind?” Another question we ask is, “What type of look do you like?” With so many colors available, each with their own unique look, it is sometimes funny the descriptions we hear such as…
- “I like the salt & pepper look.”
- “I like the granite’s that have ‘chunks.’”
- “I like the “marbley” look.”
- “I like ‘the flow’ of that granite.”
- “I don’t like the those ‘spots’.”
- “I love ‘those spots!’”
- “I like the granite’s with veining.”
- “I like consistency.”
- “I don’t want a granite that looks consistent. I like that natural look.”
- “I like the wild ones.”
No matter how you describe granite, it is easy to fall in love with its time-less beauty, and durability. If you need help with your color selections, please feel free to give us a call, or stop by our showroom. We’re always glad to help.

Light At The End Of The Tunnel…
Today I came across an article from the publisher of Surface & Panel magazine titled, “Better Times Ahead,” that I found quite refreshing and worthy of passing along. According to the article, “June 30th is the official bottom of the housing market! From that point forward the housing industry will begin climbing, slowly at first, but accelerating in the last half of 2009 and through 2010.”
Builder confidence is on the rise, and according to the latest index from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), March was up five percentage points, which is the highest it has been since October 2008. First time home buyers are eligible to receive an $8000 tax credit, and interests rates are extremely afforable, so if you’ve been on the fence about buying, it is time to act.
While the stock market generally predicts economic conditions, and has in fact risen 25% from its low, we also need the housing and remodeling market to improve to get the economy rolling again. Thankfully, there are finally signs that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Recipe: Taco Dip
Here’s a recipe I make often for up at the lake. It is a great appetizer for gatherings.
Taco Dip
1 lb. hamburger
1 pkg. taco seasoning
1 can sliced black olives
1 small onion chopped
1 can chilis
2 can refried beans
1 small jar Pace picante sauce
1 pkg. shredded cheddar cheese
tortilla chips
Brown hamburger in frying pan, or skillet. Add chopped onion, black olives, and green chilis. Stir the mixture until the hamburger is entirely browned. Add the taco seasoning with water according to the package directions. Drain off any excess grease. Set aside. In a crock pot, add the refried beans taco meat and picante sauce, and stir. Add the cheese on top and stir. Cook on high setting at first, stirring occasionally, to melt the cheese. After the dip is hot, turn the setting down to low. Serve with tortilla chips.
Enjoy!
