Think Yellow…
It is funny how we are all drawn to certain colors, especially in decorating. At our showroom, we have customers that are drawn to both warm and cool colors, but for some reason the warm tones seem to be more well-liked.
A popular warm toned color is yellow. Many people are drawn to the color yellow because it is bright and cheery, and often denotes happiness and joy. In decorating, the color yellow can make a room feel cozy, and when used on walls, can actually make the walls feel closer. Yellow is also popular because it reminds us of nature, flowers, and sunshine.
If you are looking for a yellow granite, we’d be happy to help you make your selection. There are many yellow colors to choose from. You may want to make to look at samples, or slabs with the word “giallo,” in the name, as it is the Italian word for yellow.

Recipe: Strawberry Spinach Salad
Here’s a good recipe to try that a friend of mine made at a Pampered Chef party a number of years ago. It is easy to make and has a light taste for those summer gatherings.
Strawberry Spinach Salad
1 lemon (squeeze for juice)
2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. poppy seeds
1/4 cup sliced almonds
8 oz. strawberries (1-1/2 cups sliced)
1/2 medium cucumber (sliced)
1/4 small red onion
1 Pkg. (6 oz. baby spinach)
Combine the lemon juice, white wine vinegar, sugar, oil and poppy seeds in a bowl and stir. Set aside the dressing. Mix the spinach, cucumber, strawberries, and onion in a bowl. Before serving, add the dressing, and almonds.
Enjoy!

Four Legged Friends…
This blog is for all of you dog lovers out there!!
If any of you have visited our showroom, you may have had the pleasure of meeting one of our four legged “mascots”…Ozzy and Sammy, both black labs, and Zues, a chocolate lab. They can sometimes be seen roaming the grounds and helping take garbage out to the dumpster. It is truly amazing how much pets can become part of a family, even the PGC family. Leisa even keeps a box of dog treats at her desk for any potential visitors.
I own a puggle (pug & beagle mix), her name is Sage, and to be honest with you, I have no idea what I would do without her (even though she can be a stinker sometimes)! The first time I left her at the PetHotel when I went on vacation, I cried for hours…I know, I know, she is “just” a dog, right?
Sage when she was a puppy
My favorite picture of Sage EVER!!
I recently became engaged and I jokingly suggested to Aaron, my fiance, that Sage should take part in the wedding, after all she is part of the family, or I thought it jokingly until yesterday. As I was paging through the USA Today at lunch, I came across an article in the Life section titled, “Puppy love: More pets partake in even formal weddings”. Needless to say, I about fainted, and got a good laugh out of the irony! I immediately emailed Aaron the article…his response, “no puggle at the wedding”. So, I guess that is the end of that!
I guess my whole point here is that you should not be surprised to see a four legged friend in some of the most unusal places, including granite countertop showrooms and weddings.
A more mature Sage...don't you think she could be in a wedding?
Feel free to share…

Hallelujah! There’s Good News On The Forefront!
At last…There’s finally good news on the front page of the paper!
After months and months of bad news, todays headline on the front page of USA Today reads, “Despite Everything…More Americans See Sunny Skies Ahead.” It has sure has been a long time coming, but thank God, the media is finally opting to promote some good news about the economy.
According to the article, “Over the past two months, expectations for the future have brightened significantly amid rising optimism about a stock market rebound and economic turnaround. Also—Now 36% of those surveyed in the Gallup-Healthways well-being poll say the economy is getting better. That’s not exactly head-over-heels exuberance, but it is double the number who felt that way at the beginning of the year and a notable spike in the nation’s frame of mind.”
Here at PGC, we’ve also noticed a change in attitude with some consumers. Numbers are slowly beginning to climb, and we are quite optimistic about the future.
Let’s all keep a positive attitude, as we look ahead for more sunny skies, and let’s hope the media does as well!
