Fabulous Focal Points…
When it comes to designing a kitchen, some consumers choose to have an island as the focal point for the room. In our showroom, we often suggest choosing a granite color with flow and movement, or a color that offers some unique characteristics (such as areas with quartz, or mica) to enhance the island as the focal point even more.
Other consumers may be interested in adding a focal point to a backsplash area, such as behind a cooktop, or stove. This is a great area to use mosaics to make it stand out. According to the article, “Mosaics—Creating Exquisite Focal Points,” found in the Fall/Winter 2009 issue of Stone Dimensions magazine, (an MIA publication), the splash area is “perfectly situated in the line of site, and an area you can pack a lot of ‘wow factor’ without destroying your budget.
No matter what you choose to have for the focal point of your kitchen, planning ahead is key. Please feel free to ask us for color suggestions, or ideas. We’ve installed thousands of kitchens over the years, and would be happy to give you our input. Feel free to also look at our photo galleries on our website.
