Recipe: Mint Surprise Cookies

Here’s a good recipe to try if you want to do some holiday baking. If you like mint, and Spritz cookies, you’ll like these. They are fun to make, and festive for the holidays.

Mint Surprise Cookies

3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks butter) softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 packages chocolate mint candy wafers

Stir the flour, soda & salt together in a small bowl. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and brown sugar until blended. Add the eggs and beat until light. Stir in the flour mixture and vanilla. Chill for 30 minutes, if dough is very soft. Preheat the over to 375 degrees. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper. Unwrap the mint candies, and break them in half.  Enclose  the chocolate mint pieces in a rounded teapsonful of dough. Sprinkle with colored sugar, or holiday sprinkles. Bake for 10 minutes.

Enjoy!

Fun For All At NARI Firm Night…

Fun was had by all at last nights NARI Firm night, held at Synergy Products in St. Louis Park, MN. While the snow put a damper on the drive, it did not prevent NARI members from showing up, although there were some complaints about the longer than normal drive.

The event included a toy drive for Toys for Tots, social hour and silent auction, and live band, which included music by the Belladiva’s.

Following are a few photos I wanted to share:

Mastering The Closing Process…

Most people in sales know that, selling is a numbers game, and… “The More You Tell, The More You sell.” While this is true, and beating on doors and making calls is important, being able to master the closing process is key to successful selling.

Mastering the selling process however, takes time and practice. I recently came across, “A Checklist For Mastering Closing,” in my November/Decmber 2009 issue of Selling Power magazine that I liked and found useful and wanted to pass along to readers.

A Checklist for Mastering Closing

  • Did you describe all the benefits your product, or service offers and what they can do for the client?
  • Did you ask the client to buy? (Did you outright ask for the sale?)
  • Did you discover the key issue in your client’s buying decision? (You’re too new, or too much like XYZ company.)
  • Did you uncover the key benefit that your client wants from your product, or service?
  • Did you attempt to make lots of little closes, so the client had the opportunity to make small decisions before making a large decision?
  • Did you try one more time when you thought the sale was lost?

Thanks for reading and happy selling!

Fabulous Focal Points…

When it comes to designing a kitchen, some consumers choose to have an island as the focal point for the room. In our showroom, we often suggest choosing a granite color with flow and movement, or a color that offers some unique characteristics (such as areas with quartz, or mica) to enhance the island as the focal point even more.

Other consumers may be interested in adding a focal point to a backsplash area, such as behind a cooktop, or stove. This is a great area to use mosaics to make it stand out. According to the article, “Mosaics—Creating Exquisite Focal Points,” found in the Fall/Winter 2009 issue of Stone Dimensions magazine, (an MIA publication), the splash area is “perfectly situated in the line of site, and an area you can pack a lot of  ‘wow factor’ without destroying your budget.

No matter what you choose to have for the focal point of your kitchen, planning ahead is key. Please feel free to ask us for color suggestions, or ideas. We’ve installed thousands of kitchens over the years, and would be happy to give you our input. Feel free to also look at our photo galleries on our website.
