Education, Facts, Tips, Recipes And Opinions = Paramount Granite Blog
The other day, while browsing the internet looking for ideas for more blogs, I happened to come across a fellow bloggers site that just happened to be commenting on one of the blogs I wrote, (Is granite just granite?), which took me a little off guard. While my blog must have sparked a conversation about how granite shops can be so different, this blog mentioned that my blog post was written a little Snarkily. “Snarkily,” I thought—Hmm? After pondering the comment and term for awhile, I had to agree.
I was being a bit sarcastic in that blog, but that was my point. (That not all granite fabricators are the same.) Many ideas are hard to get across to the general public without using some terminology, or examples that hit home.
Anyway—if you follow my blog, you will find blogs that educate, blogs that give facts & tips, blogs that share recipes (under the Category, Cooking In Your Kitchen), and of course—blogs that give my opinions—snarkily or otherwise.
Thanks for reading my blog!

Top 10 Reasons To Purchase A Granite Countertop…
While there are many reasons consumers buy granite countertops for their homes, I thought I’d list the Top 10 reasons that granite is so popular.
- They Add Value: People are staying in their homes longer, especially today. Investing a little time and money in your home adds value, and incorporating granite countertops is one way help.
- Affordable: Granite countertops are no longer just for the elite. Over the years, granite has come significantly down in price. While some granites are more expensive than others, most fabricators have several price categories with a variety of colors in each. Today’s consumers can select a color that fits their budget.
- Beautiful: Granite has an aesthetic appeal all its own. Granite is composed of a variety of minerals and is a product of nature. Adding granite countertops will add appeal to any home.
- Durable: Granite is one of the most durable materials available for countertops. Scratching and staining on granite surfaces is rare because of the hardness of the material.
- Easy to Maintain: Granite countertops are easy to maintain. Most granite surfaces only require that they be cleaned with a soft white cloth, some hot water, and dish soap. A window cleaner may also be used, but may leave a film.
- Variety of Colors: Granite comes in a wide variety of colors and its beauty lasts more than a lifetime. There are well over 400 colors available.
- Heat Resistant: Granite is heat resistant for everyday kitchen needs. Setting hot pots and bake-ware on your granite countertops will not burn them.
- Bacteria Friendly: The Center for Disease Control, CDC, does not have any records of people becoming sick from bacteria in granite. Both the food industry and medical industry continue to use granite in many various applications.
- Choose the look you like: Whether you like a consistant look, or one with more variety such as veining, flow, or movement, there are plenty of options with granite. Most consumers enjoy selecting slabs that match their taste and decorating choices.
- Cooks Love ‘Em: Whether you cook a lot, or a little, consumers love the benefits of granite countertops. From rolling out cookie, or pie dough, to placing your cookie sheet , or frying pan down without worries, it is no wonder consumers love their granite countertops.

Do your homework before purchasing your granite countertops!
The other day I came across a blog post titled, “Do granite countertops get installed like puzzle pieces?” While this blog post addressed a question from a consumer who was interested in installing their own granite countertops, I had to laugh. Actually—some do, which is unfortunate. That is why when a consumer says they can get their countertops from so and so, for a much cheaper price, ya better beware. Ask some questions such as, “how many seams will there be, and where will they be located.” I mean, who really wants their kitchen looking like a jig-saw puzzle? Depending on the circumstances, slab sizes, etc., some seams are necessary, but we’ve heard some horror stories about how some fabricators have had seams every couple feet. Yikes!
I have mentioned this before, but it is always best to do your homework when purchasing granite countertops. Following are a few questions and points to consider when looking for a prospective fabricator for your countertops:
- How many seams will my countertops have?
- How do you fabricate your undermount sinks?
- Do you have a showroom, shop and equipment that I can look at to see the process?
- What kind of equipment do they use? Do they have any bridge saws, CNC mills, straight line polishers, etc.?
- Have you seen the granite fabricators installation trucks, or vans driving down the road before?
- Does the fabricator have a website?
- Does the fabricator answer their phone when you try to call them, or do you only get voicemail?
- What does their bid look like? Does it include only a price? Does it give any sort of description of the project?
- Does the fabricator have insurance and proof of it?
- Does the fabricator belong to any trade organizations such as the MIA? How about the BBB?
- Do they have any employees?
