Add Stunning Appeal With A Beautiful Blue Granite Countertop…
When it comes to color options for your home or remodeling project, everyone’s got their favorite. In this blog, I wanted to focus on the color blue because it is a favorite for many people. Many people are drawn to the color blue because it is calming and represents stability.
If you like the color blue, you might want to check out the color Blue Eyes for your countertops, which is quarried in Canada.
Blue Eyes Granite
Many customers are drawn to it because of its reflective quality. We often get asked, “What makes it reflective, and why does it appear to change colors?” While all granite is composed of various minerals such as quartz and feldspar, it is the mineral, mica, that gives blue eyes that reflective, mirror-like image and adds that stunning appeal.
Following are a few photos I wanted to share:

Recipe: Avocado, Caper, And Pickeled Onion Toast
Here’s a tasty recipe I came across in my June 2010, issue Whole Living magazine that I wanted to pass along. It is easy to make and works great for an appetizer, or a healthy snack. (Lots of good fat in that avocado.)
Avocado, Caper, And Pickeled Onion Toast
- 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon capers, coarsely chopped
- 1 teaspoon extra-virgin olive oil
- kosher salt and ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/2 avocado, pitted
- 2 slices whole-grain bread, toasted
- 1 ounce smoked trout or 1/2 soft-cooked egg, for topping (optional)
Directions
- Combine the onion, lemon juice, capers, oil, and 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper in a bowl. Let stand until the onions soften slightly, about 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, mash the lemon zest and avocado with 1/8 teaspoon salt.
- Spread half of the avocado mixture on one slice of toast and top with half the onions. If desired, add either the smoked trout or the soft-cooked egg. Repeat with remaining ingredients, and serve immediately.
Enjoy!

Seaming Your Granite Countertops…
I know I wrote on this topic a couple of times, but we do get a lot of questions in our showroom about seaming and the seaming process. In my last blog on the subject, Seams To Me: Love Your Granite Countertops, I mentioned that we use a seam setter to achieve a tight, clean-looking seam. In this blog, I wanted share a few photos of our installers using our seam setter and the seaming process.
