Granite Countertops—Spotlight On Cosmos
In this blog I wanted to spotlight the color, Cosmos, which is quarried in Brazil.
Cosmos Granite
Cosmos is a beautiful color that contains rich tones of green, gold, brown, silver and black and is one of my favorites. Cosmos has a unique look and definitely stands out. The mineral, mica is prominent throughout this stone and gives it a lot of reflection. Large areas of quartz can also be found throughout the color, Cosmos, giving the stone a translucent depth. While this stone is a beauty, it is one that is sometimes harder to fabricate because of its mineral composition.

California Dreamin…
Most of you out there have probably heard the song, California Dreamin, by the popular 1960′s American/Canadian folklore group, The Mama’s and the Papa’s, as it is ranked #89 in Rolling Stone’s list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. I have to admit, most of the time I hear this song, I want to change it, or fast forward it because who wants to hear about brown leaves and a grey sky? It is depressing!
Well—when I heard the song recently, I had some different thoughts and not because it is actually fall.
Although the song is not one of joy, but one of pain, I feel it also depicts a story of hope. We all get depressed, or down in the dumps, from time to time, but we don’t have to stay that way. We can change the slide in our mind, and our thoughts.
The last four years for many remodelers and builders have been a challenge, with many ups and downs. While some have gone out of business, those that have hung on clearly weren’t focusing on brown leaves and a grey sky. While the days of all blue skies are long gone, the sunshine is clearly not and we all need to have ways to find it.
Alan Cohen, in his book, Why Your Life Sucks And What You Can Do About It, talks about how nourishing your spirit is a must. Cohen states that “The few minutes a day you take to feed your soul is your strongest investment in your happiness and that we should do whatever it takes to inspire ourselves to stay in a creative consciousness.” When we do this, we are naturally attracting more positivity into our lives, which projects us forward, a place we all want to go.

Add Some Bells & Whistles To Your Kitchen With A Bellini Granite Countertop…
I don’t know about you, but I am always attracted to granite colors that contain a lot of quartz and mica. The mineral, quartz, gives a stone its depth and adds a lot of character. The mineral, mica, gives a stone its reflective qualities. In this blog, I wanted to feature a couple of photos of the color, Bellini, which is from Italy.

This photo features a Bellini Granite Island, which we recently fabricated and installed. Notice the unique color pattern and large quartz areas. Add some halogen lighting and you not only have a gorgeous stone, but one that really pops.

Add A Classic Look With A St. Cecilia Dark Granite Countertop…
When it comes to granite countertops, there are a lot of color choices. While many new color options have become available over the years, (some being trendy), there are a few colors that have always remained popular. The color, St. Cecilia Dark, is one of the few. St. Cecilia Dark is a neutral colored granite with warm shades of beige, gold, brown, black, and cream. Many consumers are attracted to this color because it offers a classic look that is appealing. I have seen this color used in many rooms, including the kitchen, the bathroom, great room, bedroom, dining room, bar room, etc.
