Granite Countertops—Spotlight On Titanium

In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the color, Titanium, which is quarried in Brazil.

Titanium 004

Titanium Granite

Titanium granite is a a beautiful black color that also contains cream, gold and taupe. It typically has a gentle swirling, or flowing pattern that often can be seen throughout the slabs, giving it some character. Titanium typically contains some areas of quartz, which give it some depth and may also contain some areas of mica.

Titanium is an elegant color and would make a great kitchen island, or perimeter tops. It would also make a nice bar top, or fireplace surround. If you like the color, black, you might want to check out the color, Titanium.

Stop by our showroom and take a look.

Add A Neutral Tone Countertop To Lift The Spirit…

While the color, white, seems to be a popular choice for countertops by consumers these days, other neutral colors have also become popular for countertops, as well as for other decorating. Benjamin Moore, in fact, has created a neutral palette of colors based on colors that they have seen popping up in the home furnishings industry, such as carpet, wallpaper, etc. Their new palette consists of 23  harmonic colors that work well together for decorating. According to the article, The New Neutral Palette, found on their website, there’s been “a shift away from gray to tints of blues, greens, lavenders and pinks.” Pastels have been popping up that are softened and filtered, that help to lift the spirit and give a room a happy feeling.

Add Some Character To Your Home With A Mascarello Granite Bar Top!

In this blog I wanted show a few photos of a Mascarello bar top we recently fabricated and installed. Mascarello is a beautiful color with warm shades of gold and beige. Cream and taupe colors are also prevalent throughout the slabs. Large areas of quartz are also prominent in this stone.

Let’s take a look…

Notice the large taupe areas. This is quartz and gives the illusion that you can actually through the stone, or down into it.

Why Do Some Granite Colors Have More Than One Name?

confusedSome customers get confused when they see the same color at several different suppliers, but each one calls it something different.  While I agree it is confusing, there is an explanation. Over the last 20 years, natural stone has become a popular choice for consumers and it is no wonder. That’s because the stone industry has grown immensely and evolved, creating more demand for granite countertops. Improved technology and extraction processes, as well as better equipment options are among the reasons there are more color choices for consumers these days than ever, making supply houses plentiful.

While suppliers often buy a stone from a quarry under a certain name, they may end up changing it for a number of reasons. Let me explain. Since granite is a product of nature, it can vary from block to block. For example, if a supplier orders a container of St. Cecilia and it looks vastly different when it arrives, let’s say—much lighter from what they are currently carrying, they may call it something else, such as St. Cecilia Light. If the color of slabs ordered typically have a great deal of variability and flow, and come in looking altogether different from what they are currently carrying, they may opt to change the name altogether, rather than confusing the customer.

Suppliers however, are not the only ones that may change a color name. Other distributors, such as architects and designers may also change the name of certain stones to try and keep some “exclusivity” for their business to get a sale. Some fabricators are guilty, as well, although most do not like to play the name game, as it can take up valuable time to figure out what color a customer actually wants.

If you are looking for a particular color for your project, rest assured we can help you find it. Over the years, we have developed a Color Reference Chart to help us decipher color name issues.
