Tis The Season For Outdoor Kitchens…

It is that time of year again when everyone wants to be outside. Summer is the perfect time to enjoy the warm weather, nature, flowers, wildlife and the great outdoors. More and more people these days, are making their backyards more inviting and accommodating for friends, family gatherings and fun…and why not? We only get a limited amount of that summer sunshine, especially here in Minnesota, so we may as well take advantage of it, as long as we can.

In this blog, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some outdoor kitchen ideas. Maybe you can get some ideas for your backyard, or one to dream about?

Let’s take a look at some outdoor kitchens I came across…

Add Some Comfort To Your Kitchen With Some Golden Fantasy Granite…

In this blog, I wanted to share a few photos of a Golden Fantasy kitchen we recently fabricated and installed. Golden Fantasy is a beautiful color with warm shades of gold, yellow and brown that includes some black veining. It is one of those colors that contain a unique flowing pattern that adds character to any room.

Let’s take a look…

I was surprised when I received this picture above, but the cat definitely shows just how comfortable your kitchen can be. So nice, even the cat wants to take a nap.

Add Some Backsplash To Complete The Look Of Your Kitchen Countertops…

Adding a backsplash often completes the look of your kitchen countertops. While there are number of backsplash choices for consumers including:  3-1/2″ (standard), full height, tile, and a combination look, in this blog, I wanted to focus on our standard backsplash.

Let’s take a look at some standard 3-1/2″ backsplash runs we fabricated the other day in our shop…

3-1/2″ granite backsplash runs to match countertops

As you can see, we fabricate a bunch of backsplash everyday. Over the years, a standard 3-1/2″ to 4″ backsplash has been the most popular choice. It ties the look and pattern of the stone from the countertop to the wall together and also allows for easy clean-up with spills and splatters when cooking.

At Paramount Granite Company, we typically trim our backsplash down to a 2 cm thickness because it offers a cleaner, “less bulky” look. Not all fabricators however, do this, as it may save them time and money. Both 2 cm and 3 cm thicknesses for backsplash however, are considered acceptable. Keep in mind, there may be circumstances where the backsplash can not be trimmed down. If your kitchen or project involves some atypical design, or if  you have selected a fragile stone the backsplash may have to be left at it original 3 cm thickness.

Let’s take a look at a few kitchens with standard backsplash…

Recipe: Healthy Vegetable Medley Saute

Here’s a recipe I prepared the other day and wanted to pass it along. It is healthy, easy to prepare and quite tasty. Why not give it a try? We all can benefit from adding more vegetables into our diet.

Healthy Vegetable Medley Saute

healthy vegetable medley saute

1 small bag broccoli 1 small bag fresh pea pods
1 yellow pepper (sliced)
1 cup sliced mushrooms (use any variety you like)
1 small red onion (sliced)
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 handful cherry tomatoes (sliced in half)
tumeric
cajun
garlic powder
soy sauce
Sirache Sauce

Coat the bottom of a large skillet with olive oil. Add the vegetables and saute over low heat. Cover for a few minutes and stir. Sprinkle with a little tumeric, cajun, garlic powder, or any other favorite spice you like. Add a little soy sauce and Sirache sauce and stir in. Serve immediately.

Enjoy!

Granite Countertops—Spotlight On Sienna Bordeaux

In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the color, Sienna Bordeaux, which is  quarried in Brazil.

Sienna Bordeaux 081_wlogo

Sienna Bordeaux Granite

Sienna Bordeaux is a beautiful color with cool shades of cream, gray and taupe. Shades of burgundy and brown can also be seen throughout the slabs. Sienna Bordeaux typically has a gentle, flowing pattern that can be seen moving throughout the stone that gives it some unique character. Since gray and white tones are popular in decorating and design right now, this stone is also a popular choice among some consumers.

Sienna Bordeaux would look great in a kitchen, used as a center island, or perimeter tops. It would also look nice in a bathroom, as a vanity top, or a tub surround, or make a nice fireplace surround in a great room, or master bedroom.

If you are doing some remodeling and like shades of gray, cream, taupe with a hint of burgundy, you should definitely take a look at Sienna Bordeaux.

Let’s take a look at a full slab…
