Granite Countertops—Spotlight On Roman White

In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the color, Roman White, which is quarried in Brazil.

Roman White Granite

Roman White is a beautiful color with soft shades of cream, white, beige, taupe and gray. Roman White typically contains a gentle pattern that flows from one side of a slab to another. Many consumers are attracted to this color because of its neutral tones and the fact that it works well with many decorating options.

Roman White could be a great focal point in a kitchen when used for a  center island. It would also look equally as nice for perimeter tops and would go with a variety of cabinet colors and styles. Roman White would also look wonderful in a bathroom, as a vanity or tub surround, or make an elegant fireplace surround.

Let’s take a look at some stock…

Add An Elegant Look To Your Kitchen With Bianca Perla Quartzite…

If you’ve been looking for material for your countetops lately, you’ve probably come across some quartzite in your search. Quartzite’s have become more popular over the last several years and we are now seeing more suppliers carrying them. Quartzite is similar to granite is hardness, strength and density, making it also a good choice for countertops. It is a metamorphic quartz-based stone made up of hard layers. You can find quartzites in a variety of colors, some with soft, subtle tones, and others with very vibrant, unique coloration.

In this blog, I wanted to share a few photos of a Bianca Perla Quartzite kitchen we recently fabricated and installed. Bianca Perla quartzite contains soft, subtle tones of beige, cream and taupe. It is a good choice if you are looking for a neutral toned material.

5 Countertop Selection Considerations…

When it comes to making selections for a new granite countertop for your home, consumers have a lot of choices. While many customers come out to our showroom prepared to make their color selections, they don’t always realize there are other selection choices to be made as well.

Following are 5 Countertop Selection Considerations to be made after the color is determined:

  1. Edge detail: There are a variety of edge profiles to choose from for your countertops. Some of the more popular ones include an eased edge, bullnose, half bullnose, bevel, large ogee, small ogee, and chiseled edge. There are also variety of custom edges available that some customers are attracted to. While some edges are more decorative, others may just give a different look, or feel to the countertop, so choosing an edge style can be an important choice.
  2. Backsplash: Adding a backsplash often completes the look of your kitchen countertops. There are a variety of options available when it comes to backsplash including:  3-1/2″ (standard), full height, tile, and a combination look that incorporates both a 3-1/2″ backsplash along with tile. Depending what you select, it can play a dramatic role in the overall look that you are trying to achieve, so make sure you find something that suites your taste.
  3. Sinks: These days, there are so many options when it comes to sinks. Whether you are looking for a stainless steel, composite, or cast iron sink for your kitchen, or a porcelain, or vessel sink for your bathroom, there are plenty of manufacturers and models to choose from. At Paramount Granite Company, we feature Magnum stainless steel kitchen sinks, as well as composite sinks. For the bath, we feature Magnum porcelain sinks. We also sell Elkay and Kohler sinks, as well as other sinks models. Make sure you do some research ahead of time to find exactly what features you are looking for.
  4. Faucets: When it comes to faucets, consumers these days have a multitude of choices. Whether you are looking for something functional, or something a little more technology savvy, there is a faucet out there to fit your needs. We feature Delta faucets, which come in a variety of  finishes and styles including pull down, touch technology, etc.  We also sell a variety of other makes and models.
  5. Care & Maintenance: Caring for your granite countertops is a relatively simple process. For every day maintenance, we recommend cleaning with hot, soapy dish water and dish cloth. There are a number of other products on the market for both cleaning and sealing.  At Paramount Granite Company, we offer a number of care and maintenance options for consumers. For those customers that are concerned about sealing or staining for their granite, we offer a 15 Year DuPont StoneTech Professional Food Stain Warranty kit that includes both a protectant and revitalizer. We also offer a 1 Year Care & Maintenance package, which includes Sanitizing and resealing all countertops, faucet deck touch up (removing all normal hard water build up, etc.), seam maintenance and chip repair, if needed. (Up to 3 chips repaired.) While most granite requires little, or no maintenance, these options give some consumers peace of mind.

Granite Countertops and Seaming…

In our showroom, we get often get asked a variety of questions in regards to seams. I can understand why, as most people prefer to have a seam that doesn’t stand out in their countertop. Customers often want to know what the seam will look and if there will be a noticeable gap. They also are often curious how the seams are filled and what steps are taken to get a good looking seam.

Many times, seams are unavoidable due to the size of the countertop, and the size of the slab or piece of stone. At Paramount Granite Company, if it is determined that a seam is needed, we do our best to make the seam as tight as possible. We use a seam setter along with epoxy to snug each piece of stone together, which works great to produce uniform, tight seams.

When possible, we try and match the flow of the stone, but keep in mind that this is not always possible, depending on the the overall slab layout, the actual slab sizes and the design of the project.

Following are a few pictures of seams taken at some installs I wanted to share:

Recipe: Homemade Salsa

In this blog, I wanted to share a recipe for some homemade salsa I made over the weekend. It is a good way to use some of the home grown vegetables you may have this fall. It is easy to make and quite tasty. Give it a try if you like.

Directions:

Wash 5-6 large tomatoes. If you use smaller ones, you will need to use a few more.
