Farmhouse/Apron Sinks

Farmhouse/apron sinks have been widely popular lately and have a long history! As I was preparing to write this blog I ran across a site that went into detail about the history of farmhouse sinks that was very interesting. It’s a very appealing/vintage look and changes the “feel” of your kitchen.

While farmhouse/apron sinks can be easily templated around and fabricated for, there are a few steps that are different in the process for this style of sink.

  • The sink will need to be set in place prior to the field measure, meaning existing countertops will need to be removed.
  • Depending on the length of sink run a seam may be required, in such cases we recommend through the middle of the sink/faucet hole.
  • If you are remodeling existing cabinets check with a professional cabinet maker to ensure the proper steps are taken to reconfigure the cabinets to accept the farmhouse/apron sink.

There at hundreds of options when it comes to material, style, and look of farmhouse/apron sinks, below are a few options:

Copper

Cast Iron

Stainless Steel

Custom Granite

Price points can vary greatly for these types of sinks as well. You will want to make sure you use a good quality sink as it will determine how tight the fit is and precise fabrication of the countertop around the sink.
