Adds Dimension To Your Granite Countertop With Double Laminated Edge…

When it comes to countertops, customers have a variety of edge options to choose from such as an eased, bevel, half bullnose, full bullnose,  or an ogee edge. While most customers tend to choose from our standard edge options, there are other options available, as well. From time to time, we have customers that are interested in a more customized edge, including a double laminated edge option, which gives the countertop a thicker appearance and adds some dimension.  Granite and other natural stone slabs typically come in either 2 cm, or 3 cm thickness, so to achieve a thicker look, we would double laminate the edge. The process includes cutting and polishing extra material, which is then glued during the fabrication process to the perimeter edge of the top.

While a double laminated edge offers a nice look, a noticeable seam is often present, depending on the color of the material. It is also more expensive  than standard edge options because the process not only requires more material, but also requires more labor to produce.

Let’s take a look at  a job we recently fabricated in Golden Queen granite…

Add A Unique Edge To Your Countertops…

I recently posted, It’s All In The Details, which featured an Imperial Danby Honed marble vanity that we we recently fabricated and installed with a unique edge. This particular job also included a number of other tops with the same edge double laminated large ogee over full bullnose edge detail, so in this post, I wanted to take a look at  another vanity from a different bathroom.

Let’s take a look …

Piano A Marble

This vanity features the color, Piano A Marble.

Notice the detail  in the edge and how the custom built-up edge adds to the overall look of the top. Beautiful-huh?

It All In The Details…

While there are a variety of edges available for countertops, I wanted to showcase an edge that we certainly don’t do everyday. In this particular project, we fabricated a number of tops that included a double laminated large ogee over full bullnose edge.

Let’s take a look at this edge option on a vanity top we fabricated and installed recently…

You may also choose from our traditional edge options including our eased, bevel, half bullnose, full bullnose, large ogee and small ogee.

Add An Aesthetic Appeal To Your Countertop With A Mitered Edge…

Most countertop material comes in either a 2 cm, or 3 cm thickness. You may, however, have seen some countertops that appear thicker, but in actuality are a standard thickness with a built-up  edge.   This type of edge is called a mitered edge and gives the material a thicker aesthetic appearance.

Let’s take a look at an island we were fabricating a mitered edge on the other day…

 Organic White Caesarstone

Notice how we are attaching and gluing more material to the perimeter of the island, so it takes on a thicker appearance.

This process is done for the entire piece and is then left to dry.

Notice how the mitered edge gives the material a nice aesthetic appeal.

If you are interested in a thicker edge for your countertops, make sure ask us about mitering.

Add A Decorative Appeal With An Ogee Edge…

When it comes to granite countertops, selecting the right edge can help you achieve the overall look you want. While there are a variety of edges to choose from including: eased, bullnose, half bullnose, bevel, and ogee, plus a variety of custom edges, in this blog, I wanted to take a look at the ogee edge. Adding an ogee edge to a countertop, automatically adds a decorative appeal. It offers an elegant look that is pleasing to the eye and adds a touch of class.

Let’s take a look at a few samples I came across…
