Five Trends In Countertop Selections…
When it comes to selecting countertops, there are a lot of choices. Not only do consumers have hundreds of color options when making granite selections, they also have a variety of other natural stone options available, depending on the application. From marble, limestone, quartzite, soapstone, onyx, and slate, the choices are plenty. And… let’s not forget engineered stone. There are a variety of manufacturer’s, each with their own array of colors. While consumer’s do have more choices than ever these days, we have seen some recent trends in the countertop selection process.
Following are 5 Trends In Countertop Selections:
- Multiple Color Combinations—Some consumers, these days, are mixing and matching colors for their countertops. With the multitude of colors available, some people like variety and are choosing one color for an island, and another color for their perimeter tops. We have seen others that mix it up even more, choosing 3 or more colors, depending on the kitchen layout.
- Mixing and matching Materials—Some consumers are also mixing and matching their materials. Whether using granite for an island and an engineered stone for their countertops, or using granite for an island and soapstone, or marble for countertops, or vice versa, consumers are definitely wanting more variety.
- Exotic Colors—While most people have heard the phrase, “Keeping up with the Jone’s,” when it comes to countertops, consumers may want granite, but they may not want the same color, as their neighbor, or someone else they know. Many consumers are willing to pay a little more for a stone that is unique and speaks to them.
- Textures—While a polished finish is still by far the most popular choice, some consumers like the idea of something different and are choosing stones that offer a leather or antique finish.
- Backsplash Variety—3-1/2″ high backsplash runs are still quite popular, but many consumers are also adding tile. With hundreds of tile options and varieties, this combination makes it easy to tie a variety of colors together with their countertops and other decor.

White Kitchen Options…
While there are many colors available these days for countertops, there are still many consumers that attracted to the color, white, and why not? White portrays a sense of elegance, is neutral and reflects cleanliness and purity. When it comes to granite, there are white options, but none are pure white. Often they will include other tones including gray, black, brown, etc. If you are looking for something a little whiter in a natural stone, you may want to look at marble. Although white marbles will often contain other tones too, there are a few options available that are “more white” including Statuatory White, which is very white.
If you are looking for a very white countertop, you might want to take a look at some engineered stones. Many engineered stones provide a more “pure” white in their product line.
Let’s take a look at a few options:
Snow White Dupont Zodiaq
Whether you are looking for a white countertop, or some other color in natural stone, or engineered stone, make sure you stop by our showroom and check out our color selections.
