A Walk Through The Shop…
While I was walking through our shop area yesterday, I noticed a unique top that one of our guys was working on that I thought would be good one to share.
Let’s take a look…
Brown Dunes VC Marble
The piece was actually being fabricated for a cocktail table. Notice the mitered edge and how the flow of the marble gently moves from one side down through the edge.
Brown Dunes VC Marble
While most marble contain some veining, or a gently flowing pattern, notice the unique linear flow of this particular marble.

Intriguing looking marble, isn’t it?

Add An Aesthetic Appeal To Your Countertop With A Mitered Edge…
Most countertop material comes in either a 2 cm, or 3 cm thickness. You may, however, have seen some countertops that appear thicker, but in actuality are a standard thickness with a built-up edge. This type of edge is called a mitered edge and gives the material a thicker aesthetic appearance.
Let’s take a look at an island we were fabricating a mitered edge on the other day…
Organic White Caesarstone
Notice how we are attaching and gluing more material to the perimeter of the island, so it takes on a thicker appearance.

This process is done for the entire piece and is then left to dry.

Notice how the mitered edge gives the material a nice aesthetic appeal.
If you are interested in a thicker edge for your countertops, make sure ask us about mitering.

Granite Countertops—What Is Bookmarking?
In this blog, I wanted to talk about the bookmarking process. From time to time, we have customers that are interested in larger islands that can’t be made from just one slab of granite. When this occurs, we typically seam together 2 slabs from the same lot, (as they should pretty much look identical) and bookmark them, to match the flow. The bookmarking process, is used to align the slabs and match their characteristics, so they can be cut and matched together for seaming.
Let’s take a look at a few photos…
Crazy Horse Granite
This photo shows the layout of a large island consisting of 2 pieces of granite, which will seam together at the middle of the sink.

This photo shows a close up of how the seam will look once it is installed. Notice the flow match from piece to piece.

This photo was taken at installation. What a beautiful island!

While it is always nice to see pictures of installed granite countertops and the finished product, many customers have questions in regards to the fabrication process and want to know what goes on in our shop area. Our shop can be a busy place, with a lot of things going on at once. While I won’t get into the specifics of the equipment and the fabrication process in this blog, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some different things going on in our shop area.
Let’s take a look at a few photo’s:

Add Some Pizzazz To Your Bath With A Unique Granite Vanity…
The other day, I was walking through our shop area and noticed an unique project we were fabricating that I wanted to share. While we fabricate a lot of bathroom vanities, I have never seen one quite like the one below.
Let’s take a look…
Cosmos Granite Vanity Top
While the color, Cosmos, is a beautiful granite, and would stand out on its own, this particular vanity, also stands out because of its unique, decorative curve work. Notice how the curves flow along with the stone pattern, adding movement to the overall design and an exciting focal point for a bathroom.
This vanity was programed and run on our CNC mill, along with the undermount sink prep.
