Buyer Beware...

Over the last couple years, we have been fielding many questions about the durability of granite countertops compared with engineered stone, ("Quartz Surfaces") . This is largely due to the fact that certain engineered stone manufacturers have been spreading lies about granite through various advertising means. We’d like to present some facts:

• Engineered stone is a man-made product, which is comprised mostly of quartz, approximately 93% by weight, 80% by volume and resin (plastic), which is why granite is more scratch resistant, more heat resistant, and produces a higher polish.
• Since engineered stone is part resin, it is UV sensitive and the sunlight can make it fade.
• Most engineered stone brands come in approximately 30-40 colors. There are well over 400 granite colors available.
• Granite does not and never will require re-polishing (check-out the markers at your local cemetery). Some engineered stone manufacturers claim their product requires no maintenance. We can easily come up with hundreds of granite colors that require no maintenance at all. The fact is that most granite colors require no maintenance!
• Engineered stone is mixed in a vat and poured in a mold by humans. Granite was created millions of years ago with the formation of the earth. Man will never match Mother Nature’s beauty and durability!
