Positive Changes Seen In The Stone Industry The stone industry has grown tremendously over the last decade, or so. With that growth the industry has also seen many exciting changes. These changes have taken place in literally every aspect of the industry from quarrying to fabrication, as well as sales and marketing.
According to, “Stone Industry Overview,” published in the March 2004 issue of Stone World magazine, “The biggest changes in the industry have taken place in the residential sector. Stone is no longer limited to wealthy homeowners. It has found its way into middle class homes, and it is found in ‘everyday’ retailers.” With the old adage, “that stone is only for high-end homes” being gone, consumers are opening their eyes to new choices and possibilities. They have begun to realize that stone is affordable and are out shopping around for colors and selections to meet their needs.
This increased demand for stone has created more competition, more stone imports, more color choices and better equipment and technological advances. While competition has increased over the years, the caliber of fabricators is wide-spread. The consumer must be aware that some fabricators are new to the industry and may not be well established. Their prices may be lower, however their quality, customer service, lead-time and service may be lacking.
